Maiden call of the new M/S Finncanopus at Ports of Stockholm

Finncanopus

Finnlines second new vessel, M/S Finncanopus, has now arrived at Ports of Stockholm. Following the successful introduction of the M/S Finnsirius in September 2023, the shipping company is continuing to renew and improve its fleet on the Kapellskär – Långnäs – Naantali route.

The M/S Finncanopus made its maiden call at Ports of Stockholm on 15 February. Just like the new Finnsirius, which was introduced on the route in September, Finncanopus is a Superstar class combined freight and passenger ferry. The two ships are jointly the largest vessels in the Finnlines fleet. They increase capacity and efficiency significantly for the services operating between Sweden and Finland.

“We offer the Finncanopus a very warm welcome to Port of Kapellskär. With the planed morning sailings from Port of Kapellskär, the Finncanopus is well suited for the Swedish market and meets the needs of freight customers and passengers,” states Nicklas Ebersson, Marketing Manager Cargo at Ports of Stockholm.

The two larger vessels are part of the long-term commitment by Finnlines to sustainable shipping and increased capacity. Finncanopus follows in the wake of Finnsirius, operating services with morning departures from Port of Kapellskär and evening departures from Naantali. Passengers can also travel on the Finncanopus without a vehicle, which opens up new possibilities and convenience for passengers.

“Finncanopus is an important part of our efforts to achieve better sustainability and increased capacity. This gives our freight customers greater flexibility and possibilities and at the same time offers passengers a comfortable and modern journey between Sweden, the Åland Islands and Finland," says Antonio Raimo, Line Manager at Finnlines.

Port of Kapellskär, which is the northernmost Ports of Stockholm port, is a strategic hub for cargo and passenger transport between Sweden and Finland. The short distances and quick travel times enable efficient transport and easy travel for passengers and goods to and from Stockholm and the Greater Stockholm region.
