Electric boat company Candela, which is a tenant of Ports of Stockholm, has secured extensive orders for its hydrofoiling vessels from countries around the world. Now the first ship is being delivered from Frihamnen port, via Stockholm Norvik Port, to Mumbai. And of course it will be delivered by sea.
The first of Candela's electric vessels, the P-12, left Frihamnen port in central Stockholm for Stockholm Norvik Port under its own power in early April. There, the vessel was loaded onto a larger vessel for onward transport by sea via Antwerp to Mumbai in India.
The handling of the vessel shows how Ports of Stockholm's quays enable efficient and sustainable transport directly from central Stockholm to the final destination. By using waterways and transporting goods as close to the final destination as possible, the environmental impact is reduced while freight becomes more cost-effective.
Candela has secured extensive orders for its electric hydrofoil vessel, the P-12, from several countries around the world. The delivery is the first of several to leave Stockholm for destinations in different parts of the world.
In Frihamnen, Candela Technology has built one of the world's most modern test and development centers for electric vessels. The company is a tenant of Ports of Stockholm with 830 square meters in Magasin 2 as well as additional space on the quay where an advanced prototype workshop has been built.
