Stockholm is the favourite port of call on the week-long cruise for German tourists travelling aboard AIDAdiva. This became clear during a study visit on board by Ports of Stockholm during one of the ship's regular calls to the Swedish capital.
Following an overview of the quay and its connections to the vessel – led by Stefan Scheja, Marketing Manager for Ferries and Cruise Traffic at Ports of Stockholm – the delegation boarded the ship. AIDAdiva's Hotel Director escorted the delegation to the bridge. There, the Captain introduced the vessel, shared its history, explained the various roles and functions on the bridge, and described how the ship's itineraries are planned. The Chief Engineer then guided the visitors through the engine room and explained the ship's waste management, composting system, and other aspects of its sustainability efforts, in which the onshore power connection plays a key role.
Since the summer of 2024, AIDAdiva has been able to operate entirely on shore power while berthed in Stockholm, eliminating the need to run any of its onboard engines. This significantly reduces local emissions while also improving the fuel efficiency of the entire cruise.
The crew explained that virtually all passengers leave the ship during the stop in Stockholm to explore the city and visit its many attractions. AIDAdiva arrived at 8:00 a.m., remained alongside throughout the day, and departed again at 6:00 p.m.
When asked directly whether passengers had expressed any complaints or dissatisfaction about their visit to Stockholm, the crew reported that no particular concerns had been raised. In fact, Stockholm is the destination that most passengers look forward to visiting during the cruise.
