Early start for stone unloading at Stockholm Norvik Port

Barge for stone at the quay at Stockholm Norvik Port

The demand for stone is high. Stockholm Norvik Port and NCC are now speeding up deliveries by bringing forward the loading of large quantities of stone.

A new port area for the unloading of stone is currently being built at Stockholm Norvik Port. The start of unloading was planned for the end of October, when the new port area is to be completed. However, the greatly increased demand for stone has now caused Stockholm Norvik Port and NCC to bring forward the start of unloading.

For the time being, unloading will take place via the Stockholm Norvik Port Roro terminal, where the stone is transported by truck to a barge. A total of 120,000 tons of stone are estimated to be unloaded from the port before the new port area is put into use.

The stone, which originally comes from the construction work of Stockholm Norvik Port, will be transported to Paldiski in Estonia. There, the material will be used in several extensive infrastructure projects.
