    Sweden's second OPS for cruise ships inaugurated in Stockholm

    Ports of Stockholm has taken another important step towards more sustainable shipping by inaugurating Sweden's second electricity connection for international cruise ships. Two facilities now enable more ships to connect to electricity at berth, reducing air emissions and noise levels. This strengthens Stockholm's position as a premium destination for sustainable cruise traffic.

    Cruise traffic in Stockholm takes off - number of calls and passengers on the rise

    The cruise season in Stockholm has officially begun, and this year a total of 136 ship calls are expected at ports operated by Ports of Stockholm. This represents an increase in both the number of cruise ship calls and passengers compared to last year. In addition, many of the vessels will be making their maiden calls, and a brand-new cruise line has chosen to visit Stockholm – a premium destination for sustainable cruise tourism.

    The shipping company Tallink Silja is strengthening its traffic between Estonia and Sweden by deploying a larger and more modern ship on the Kapellskär-Paldiski route. On 10 February, Star 1 made its first call at Port of Kapellskär, which means increased freight capacity and improved comfort for travellers.
