2012 was yet another good year for passenger traffic at Ports of Stockholm, with a total of 12 241 000 passengers travelling via Stockholm, Nynäshamn and Kapellskär.
During 2012 Ports of Stockholm had ferry passenger traffic to eleven Baltic Sea cities. The highest number of passengers, 3 016 000, travelled on the Stockholm – Turku route. The new line to Saint Petersburg that began in 2011 showed continued strong growth. Traffic to the Baltic States also showed positive growth, increasing 2.2 percent in comparison to 2011.
Ferry passengers contribute around SEK 5000 million in tourist revenue annually, generating the equivalent of approximately 4200 full time jobs and filling seven hotels in the Stockholm region every day of the year.
The number of international cruise passengers again reached a new record high, with a total of 470 000 passengers, 20 000 more than in 2011. During 2012 there were 275 cruise ship calls into Ports of Stockholm’s ports.
