Successful cooperation with HPH

Container volumes at the Container Terminal Frihamnen, CTF, are continuing to increase, and in 2014 exceeded 50 000 TEUs.

The continued growth of container volumes is the result of a successful collaboration between Ports of Stockholm and Hutchison Port Holdings , HPH, the world’s leading port investor, developer and operator. This strong collaboration, combined with a highly professional and motivated workforce, enables CTF to consistently show high productivity. The average of loading/unloading per crane and hour is 25 lifts.

The CTF terminal now has the additional benefit of Norra länken, the new tunnel that connects the port to the E4, E18 and E20 motorways. The new tunnel allows vehicle access between the terminal and the motorway network with a journey time of only a few minutes.

Ports of Stockholm can see an increasing demand for rail volumes to and from the CTF terminal. Shipping lines are also increasingly looking to transport containers by sea to the rapidly expanding Stockholm region, Sweden's largest consumer market.

The global network and strong relationship that HPH has with the ocean carriers around the world connects CTF to the world network. HPH network of port operations comprises 52 ports, spanning 26 countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australia.

HPH and Ports of Stockholm are working closely together to further develop container handling in the ports at Stockholm and Nynäshamn.
