From September 28 to October 4 a new record was set at CTF, Container Terminal Frihamnen. Never before have so many TEU:s been handled during one single week.
All together, the shipping lines calling CTF, CMA-CGM, MSC, Team Lines and Unifeeder handled 1380 TEUs.
The high volume is driven by strong consumption in the fast growing Stockholm Region and the possibility to move containers by water to the very heart of Swedens biggest and fast growing consumption area.
"It is very satisfying that train capacity has increased during the last few months. Longer train sets and national coverage with Green Cargo, enables shipping lines to move containers swiftly to where there is demand", says Dick Lagerberg, Freight and Logistic Manager at Ports of Stockholm.
The new tunnel connecting the port to the national highways is also a huge improvement, making it much easier for clients to move containers to and from the port. In a matter of minutes containers can be transferred between the port and the main highways.
The number of temperature controlled units carrying commodities such as meat, fruit, pharmaceuticals, have increased significantly. It is a great advantage to have the food inspection authorities located in the port.
"We continue to try to improve our competitiveness and efficiency to be able to serve our clients even better", says Dick Lagerberg.
